John Hartung : ウィキペディア英語版 | John Hartung
John Hartung (born 1947) is a Professor of Anesthesiology at the State University of New York. His BA is from the University of Pennsylvania and his PhD is from Harvard University in anthropology. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.〔(Editorial Board of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology )〕 He has also published some widely cited work in other fields, notably some early pioneering research in human behavioral ecology on inheritance patterns〔Hartung, J. On Natural Selection and the Inheritance of Wealth. Current Anthropology, 17:607-22, 1976; Hartung, J. Paternity and Inheritance of Wealth. Nature, 291: 652-54, 1981;Hartung, J. Polygyny and Inheritance of Wealth. Current Anthropology, 23:1-12;Hartung, J. Matrilineal Inheritance: New Theory and Analysis. Behavioral and Brain Sciences 8:661-68, 1985.〕 and also a controversial paper in Skeptic (U.S. magazine) in which he argued that biblical injunctions to 'love thy neighbour' and the Ten Commandments were, properly interpreted, intended to apply only to behavior towards fellow Jews.〔Hartung, J. Love Thy Neighbor: The Evolution of In-Group Morality. Skeptic 3(4):86-98, 1995.〕 This latter article has been referred to favourably in popular books such as Matt Ridley's The Origins of Virtue and Richard Dawkins's bestseller The God Delusion but also, together with a favourable review of the earlier work of controversial psychologist Kevin McDonald on Judaism,〔Hartung, J. Review of K. MacDonald’s: A People That Shall Dwell Alone:Judaism as a Group Evolutionary Strategy. Ethology & Sociobiol, 16:335-42, 1995.〕 led to charges of anti-Semitism. == References ==
